Apple Picking is one of Fall's most beloved activities, and allows for families to enjoy some bonding time together as well. While taking in the crisp weather that the Fall brings to us each year, apple picking allows people to work up some delicious treats throughout the Fall Season.
Some popular treats that are made with apples during the Fall include apple pie, apple donuts, apple butter and apple bread - just to name a few! Whether you've been going apple picking for years, or are beginning the tradition this Fall Season, we've come up with a couple of tips to assure your trip is the best it can be! Check them out below!
- Decide on how you'll be using them
- Make sure you have the storage space (you may come home with more than you think!)
- Call local farms ahead of time
- Know what to look for (keep an eye out for bruising!)
- Be careful while picking
- Be sure to pick the correct way (place hand on the bottom gently twist at the stem)
- Don't wash the picked apples right away (unless you're using them right away)
- If you're storing your apples away - be sure to place them somewhere dark and cool
- When you're ready to wash - clean each apple thoroughly
