Family Fun on the Farm - New Book Penned by an 11-Year Old
June 26, 2019 By Chris B.
Double Trouble: Farm Capers is a rollicking tale of a family visiting a farm for the first time – written by an eleven year-old South African girl.
Kiara Ferreira, from Pretoria, South Africa, one morning, while watching her writer mother in a coffee shop, decided to write her own book, in fact, her own series of books. Very quickly she decided on the characters and the setting. Double Trouble refers to the twins in the family, now 10 years old, who is (sometimes) carefully looked after by their older sister Jacqui.
Mom and dad and little brother make up the rest of the family – augmented by their dog, Buster.
Even before arriving at the farm, things start happening – or should we say, going wrong. Buster is not the only one at the centre of the tale – the twins are often found where they should not have been.
“This is the first of many adventures the Evans family will have,” explains Kiara. I am hoping to finish the next one early next year, as I am about to start writing.”
The nature of the next adventure?
“No, I am not telling at the moment. And yes, I do know what it will be about,” she laughs.
